Search with filters for craft type, weight, category, and more
1
Open Pattern Search
Go to Discover → Pattern Search. You'll see a search bar at the top and a filter button. You can type a keyword to search by name, or jump straight to filters to browse by category.
Tip: Leave the search bar empty and just use filters to browse — for example, set Craft: Knitting + Weight: Worsted + Category: Sweater to see all matching patterns sorted by popularity.
2
Search Results & Sort
Type a keyword (like a designer name or pattern type) and press search. Sort your results with the sort button:
Best Match — Ravelry's relevance ranking (default when searching by keyword)
Most Popular — Sorted by number of projects (default when browsing)
Most Favorites — Patterns with the most saves
Recently Added — Newest designs first
Name A–Z — Alphabetical order
Tip: Switch between grid and list view using the toggle in the toolbar. Grid view is great for visual browsing; list view shows more details at a glance.

Advanced Filters
Tap the filter icon to open the full filter panel. Here's everything you can filter by:
Combine keyword + filters: Type a designer name or pattern name in the search bar, then add filters to narrow results. For example, search "Jessie Maed" with Category: Sweater.
Free patterns only: Toggle the Availability: Free filter. Ravelry has hundreds of thousands of free patterns.
Match your yarn: If you know your yarn's weight and gauge, set those filters to find patterns that will work with what you already own. Or try the Stash Matchmaker to automate this.
Browse by construction: Use attributes like Top-Down, Seamless, Worked Flat, or In the Round to find patterns that match your preferred technique.
Check project photos: Once you find a pattern, look at community project photos — they show the pattern in different yarns, sizes, and colors, giving you a much better idea than the designer's photos alone.
Save searches: Found a great combination of filters? Bookmark the results for easy access later.
