17I want to message other crafters

Send and receive private messages on Ravelry

1
Open Your Messages

Navigate to Messages from the Home screen. Your inbox shows all conversations, with unread messages highlighted. Switch between Inbox, Sent, and Archived folders using the tabs at the top.

Use the search bar to find conversations by recipient name. Messages you haven't read yet stand out visually so you can quickly spot new replies.

Tip: Enable notifications in Settings to get alerts when new messages arrive.
Set up notifications in App Settings.
2
Read a Conversation

Tap a message to open the full thread. Messages are displayed chronologically so you can follow the entire conversation. You can quote previous messages in your replies for context.

From the thread view, you can archive the conversation to keep your inbox clean, mark it as unread to come back later, or delete individual messages.

3
Reply to a Message

Type your reply at the bottom of the conversation and send. Your message appears instantly in the thread.

4
Compose a New Message

Tap the compose button to start a new conversation. Search for a Ravelry username and write your message. You can also message someone directly from their profile or project page.

Tip: You can message a project's creator directly from their project detail page — great for asking about yarn substitutions or techniques.
Find users to message in Follow Designers and Friends.
